Keele University Events and Conferencing wins Gold at Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism & Good Food Awards 2024

Keele University Events and Conferencing wins the prestigious Gold ‘Business Events Venue of the Year’ award at the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism & Good Food Awards 2024.

Businesses from across the county gathered at Aspects at the National Memorial Arboretum, near Lichfield, for the glittering black-tie event, sponsored by Staffordshire University and hosted by BBC Midlands Today’s Rebecca Wood.

An audience of more than 300 guests saw the winners of 20 categories announced, and the Keele University Events and Conferencing team, along with other ‘Gold’ award winners in different categories, will now progress to represent Staffordshire at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, to be held at The Rum Warehouse in Liverpool on 5th June 2024.

Commenting on the achievement, Emma Woodcock, Head of Catering & Events at Keele University Events and Conferencing, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive a Gold Award at this year’s Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism & Good Food Awards 2024. Competition is always extremely high and this year there was a long list of fantastic businesses, venues and hotels shortlisted. To receive an award is a fantastic achievement and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Keele University Events and Conferencing team.”

Philip White, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member with responsibility for tourism at Staffordshire County Council, said: “This is our tenth awards now and once again it’s fantastic to be able to celebrate our amazing tourism sector.

“We’re attraction central, the biggest and best playground in the country and I’m incredibly proud of our tourism offer and everyone working in the sector. I would like to say a huge congratulations to all our winners and those highly commended and a big thanks to the National Memorial Arboretum for hosting the event.

“Tourism continues to boom here in Staffordshire, generating  an estimated £2.3 billion for the local economy and employing thousands of people.  This is due to the hard work and determination of our hospitality businesses to provide excellent and memorable visitor experiences.

“Once again a huge well done to the sector and good luck to our winners who now go forward to the national VisitEngland awards.”
